Gate 16 — Skills / Enthusiasm
What Gate 16 means
Gate 16 is enthusiasm turned into mastery — a real talent that only becomes a skill through repetition, practice, and being willing to do the same thing over and over until it's actually good. You tend to throw yourself completely into whatever excites you, and that enthusiasm is contagious, pulling others in to watch or join whatever you're demonstrating. The gap between raw talent and real skill only closes through patient repetition, which can be frustrating if you assumed natural talent alone would be enough. Tying your whole identity to one skill can also get fragile — if that skill fails once, it can feel like your entire sense of self is on the line. Real mastery here comes from enjoying the practice itself, not just the applause at the end.
